Valerie Green- Principal: Mrs. Green has been an educator for nearly 20 years. She holds a B.S. degree in Communications from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Concordia University in Portland, Oregon. Prior to coming to WAA, she was the Assistant to the Principal at Columbus Adventist Academy. She was also an administrator with the Rockwood School District in St. Louis County for four years before moving back to the Columbus, Ohio Area. There she served as an Area Supervisor with the Department of Education, Equity and Diversity overseeing services for 10 schools (k-12) within the district. Mrs. Green is a certified Diversity Trainer and has also does speaking and workshops focusing on child development, youth leadership and college preparation. She is an active youth Sabbath School teacher and enjoys working with Youth Ministries and Women’s Ministries. She created the POSITIVELY YOU! empowerment program for girls in 1998 and continues to facilitate the program when time permits. Her free time is spent traveling with her husband and four children.
Carmie Ouzounian – Kindergarten Teacher: Mrs. O has over 20 years of experience working with young learners. She spent 12 years teaching in a daycare setting and has spent many summers working with kids at summer camp. She began teaching kindergarten in the 1990's. Mrs. Ouzounian received a B.S. in Elementary Education from Andrews University in 1985. She has endorsements in Reading, History, and Religion, and has received additional training through Chapman University, Columbus State and Andrews University. Mrs. O is involved in many activities at WAA including heading up our citrus fruit fundraiser as well as organizing and updating our library each year.
Robin Tucker – 1st Grade Teacher: Mrs. Tucker came to WAA with more than 15 years of experience teaching in a variety of academic settings. She was recognized as the 2006 Walmart Teacher of the Year for the region. Mrs. Tucker holds a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Andrews University and a B.A. in Elementary Education, Human Relations, and Health from William Penn University. She holds a Professional Certificate with the North America Division and state certificates in both Texas and Illinois. She enjoys working with young learners and building a strong academic foundation.
Barbara Maycock – 4th Grade Teacher: Mrs. Maycock has a variety of educational experiences, including 11 years on the island of Saipan as both a teacher and the administrator of Saipan Seventh-day Adventist School. For the first 3 years here at WAA, she served as the art teacher on a part-time basis, and she also previously taught many of our students at Stepping Stones Learning Center. Mrs. Maycock earned both her B.S. in Public Relations and her Master's in Elementary Arts and Teaching from Andrews University. Mrs. Maycock has two young sons and is married to a teacher. She has been a positive addition to our staff.
Lydia Levy – 5th & 6th Grade Teacher: Hailing from the beautiful and windy city of Chicago Lydia Levy is a graduate of Andrews University, class of 2017, where she studied English Education and received a Bachelor of Arts in English coupled with a minor in Communications. In her undergraduate experience she was blessed to have had several servant leadership opportunities; President of Andrews University's Education Club, News Editor for the Andrews University student newspaper, Assistant Director at Camp Akita (located in Gilson, IL), along with ministry through music with her Deliverance Mass Choir family. In her free time Lydia enjoys creative writing, all things outdoors, reading, and exploring, and trying different foods. In short, her four passions are the arts, youth ministry, social justice and education. Lydia is excited to be joining the Worthington Adventist Academy team and looks forward to what God has in store."
Becky Hall – 7th Grade Teacher: Miss Hall joined our staff in 2015. She graduated from Southern Adventist University with a Bachelor's degree in History and minors in Biblical Archaeology and Religion. Miss Hall is a graduate of Griswold Christian Academy, now WAA. We are pleased to have her as part of our staff
Martha Jean Hoehn – Music Teacher Grades K-6: Mrs. Hoehn is retired from the Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland where she was teaching elementary music full time. Her 23 years of teaching music include elementary music followed by accompanying for middle and high schools in Texas; K-12 music, bells and choral at Spring Valley Academy; choral, keyboard and voice at San Pasqual Academy; and all music at Chisholm Trail Academy. She received her B.A. in Music Education from Southwestern Adventist University and her Master in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at Brownsville. She has a passion for music and worship – and teaching children the joy of making music.
